Day 39: thu, 7 nov 2013. Class at the North Market = barely any class at all.
Last night (1 nov 2013) at the A&R Music Bar, I saw John Vanderslice play a great show. Right now he’s just touring with Jason Slota, who plays drums and Moog, often simultaneously. The show consisted of a few songs from Dagger Beach and Pixel Revolt, lots of songs from Emerald City, a few Bowie covers, and lots of other good stuff mixed in. The best parts: “Kookaburra”, where JV switched from acoustic to electric guitar halfway through in order to play a rockin’ solo; also “Underneath the Leaves”, a personal favorite, complete with pedal-fired synth sample!
Day 31: thu, 24 oct 2013. Celebrating my birthday (again) at the Grass Skirt with friends from senior ad. (Haley was there too! I think I made this wonky pano while she was in the bathroom. Oh no—sorry Haley!)
October 23 also happens to be my birthday. To celebrate, I had not one but two delicious meals with dear friends. First: breakfast at with John (my birthday twin!). We met each other at the DK Diner at 7am to have a delightful meal before heading to class. Note John’s utterly sleepy facial expression and the fact that it is still pitch black outside. Also: for lunch, I continued the tradition of eating Polish food with Jason at the North Market. (Amanda was not present and was greatly missed.)
